Easy Content ideas for your business

I’ve got a recent conversation in a brilliant fb group to thank for this blog.

Elsa asked
‘What do you wish you could have someone show you how to do in your business?”

“Content ideas for social media/email

So - I’m gonna show you. Right here. Right now

Let’s clarify – the aim of your content is to

  • Entertain
  • Inform
  • Activate

You want your audience to get a 360 of your business
They’re building a picture of you in their head
Everything you add, share and show adds a little more colour to their picture.
The more they know – the more they can trust you – and potentially buy from you

And every time you show up it’s a tick in the big book of consistency.

You are what you repeatedly do. (someone clever said that)

So, you need a plan like The A-Team – anyone remember them?

Why?

Because you can’t reply on inspo to strike just as you sit your bum down to write content

It doesn’t work like that

The inspo comes as you write

And even if it doesn’t show up one day, you’ve still got content because you had a plan.

So - You’re gonna” Break it down” (MC Hammer styleeey)

There’s 5 different types of content you should post

  1. Problem Solving
  2. Values
  3. Selling
  4. Relationship building
  5. Social Proof

Create content under each category and post a variety each week

Example
Week 1
Monday – Value
Wednesday – Culture
Friday – Sales

Week 2
Tuesday – Connection
Thursday – Testimonial
Saturday – Sales

Mix it up and of course check how much your audience enjoy it

But what do I mean by Problem Solving, Values, etc.?
Let’s look at each one

Problem Solving
Share tips – be helpful
Pick a pain point and solve it
Make your audience’s lives easier

Values
Talk about what it’s like to work with you
How you do business
Share your Biz story – you journey
Communities you support
Pick one of your Values and talk about how that looks in your business

Selling
List your services and products and prices
Pick one service/product and go deep – what made you offer this
Show a process
For example if you offer spray tan, tell us what the service looks like
– 1 pick a date/time 2 exfoilate the night before 3 wear thongs to your appointment

Build Relationships
Talk about the people in the biz
Profiles of staff and what they do in the biz and what coffee they love
Office cat / dog / rabbit

Do a bts scene – show us your workspace, store-room, salon
Unusual kit or tool in your biz – picture it and talk about it
Pick a struggle you personally have and ask if your Audience experience a similar challenge

Social Proof
Share lovely messages from clients
Show their picture and biz name if you can
Golden credibility
Write a Case Study – the before, during and after

Important

And go granular with your posts. Get into the nitty gritty and the detail.

Ultimately us human beings are nosey. We love stories and other people’s real life bts.
Hey – it’s not a bad thing because as a species we *had* to be nosey to survive.
Back in the caveman days we had seconds to decide whether you were friend or foe
because pretty much our life depended on it.

It’s now hard wired and we constantly scan for clues to help us form opinions – some of it is
subconscious too and that’s why visual branding is SO crucial. (that’s a whole other blog post)

Every touch point is a clue.

So – now you know.
And when you break content creation down it’s less scary
